Museum of Leiria
The main objective of the Leiria Museum is the preservation of the memory of its territory.
The idea of the creation of the museum was even born in the days of the liberal monarchy, and its realization was due to the efforts of Tito Larcher (1865-1932) with the creation of the Regional Museum of Art, Archeology and Numismatics Leiria in 1917 .

The museum program includes, besides the collection of the old museum, the municipal artistic collections and the ecological reserve, constituting the center of the network of concelhios museums.
The Leiria Museum is composed of two exhibition spaces. The first of these spaces presents the long-term exhibition and corresponds to the general reading of the history of the territory, the visitor can take notice of the numerous objects, events, legends and myths concerning the central identity of our country.
The second exhibition space is usually intended for temporary exhibitions.
This museum has already been the subject of several awards such as: 1 Lugar - Best work on museography (2016); 1 Prize - Most accessible municipality of the Leiria Museum (2016); nomination - European Museum of the Year Award (2017).
