A broad and complex universe, permanently present in our daily lives, Cultural Heritage is inseparable from socio-economic reality, requiring knowledge, protection and appreciation. In this sense HappyPortugal has access to information on the different areas of architectural, urban, archaeological, mobile and immaterial heritage that are the object of the DGPC (Directorate General of Heritage and Culture)
Portugal has been a member, since 1979, of the Convention for the Protection of World Cultural and Natural Heritage, which was adopted at 1972 by UNESCO. Of the 962 goods inscribed as World Heritage, 186 countries, 745 are classified as cultural, natural 188 and 29 mixed. Of these, 15 are located in national territory.
